This is one of the most awesome educational rap songs we’ve ever heard, and we’ve heard a lot of educational rap songs. The video is great too, but how could it not be with Visual Effects by Gloo!
As you may know, visual effects is a very creative process and sometimes it can be quite a challenge to achieve just the right look. We certainly crossed that bridge while creating Dan’s unicorn.
The unicorn was first tasked to the lovely and talented Paul DeSilva who created the image to the top right. While his version of the unicorn is certainly impressive and indicative of the Photoshop skill level that Dan would have in the framework of the video, it was severely lacking in a quality called “gayness”. While there definitely are elements of this, it didn’t quite match our high “gay” standards at Gloo. Sadly, we had to write Paul up for the lack of “gay” in his unicorn.
We then handed it over to Mike Ritchie who, as you can see, clearly has an instinctive talent of creating “gay” art. Behold the soft lines and slight blur of the background and the gentle mixing of colors within the unicorn’s flowing rainbow mane. Mike truly understands what “gayness” is all about.
UPDATE: Paul DeSilva’s Unicorn can now be seen in the the new Parry Gripp music video Space Unicorn.
