Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, 2010 Video
We premiered our latest corporate video “Brand New Spaces” in front of 470 patrons at the annual Parent’s Quest for the Cure Gala in Calgary. This yearly video showcases the work of Kids Cancer Care Foundation (KCCFA), an organization that helps children with cancer have the opportunity to be kids again.
KCCFA raises approximately $500,000 annually through these types of events and video has always played a very important role in their fundraising initiatives. There wasn’t a single dry eye in the house after “Brand New Spaces” played at the sold-out event, so you can imagine the results.
Writer and Executive Producer Paul Lowey said, “Creating a video like this really takes its toll on the producers and a lot of tears flow during the filming. An emotionally driven topic like childhood cancer can make it really tough to sift through hours and hours of footage to create something that makes an impact and also doesn’t exploit.”
All of the filming occurred near Calgary, Alberta during their annual KCCFA Summer Camps in 2009 and features original music by Calgary singer/songwriter Michael Bernard Fitzgerald. Paul previously wrote, directed and produced their 2008 Video “Still Beautiful” while living in Calgary and has loved working with KCCFA again from his new home-base in Vancouver.
Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, 2008 Video
I created this video a couple of years back when I lived in Calgary. We're working with Kids Cancer Care Foundation again now for their 2010 video. Check back in March for the premiere of their newest video.
Abilitas Foundation: Coldwater Ranch Lodge
We've just completed production of Abilitas Foundation's first video to promote the development of their respite lodge near Merrit, BC. We filmed in Abbotsford, Harrison Hot Springs, Stanley Park and out at the lodge site near Merrit over 3 days in the summer.
Official groundbreaking is set for later this year. Keep up to date with what Abilitas is doing and find more information on their website.
We got involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters out Chilliwack way and had a great time sponsoring their annual golf tournament. I had an idea to create a video for them about the event and have it done in time to play at dinner the same day. It was an insane schedule to try and pull off, but through Jason's wicked quick cutting skills we not only delivered this little masterpiece within about 10 hours, but Mike and I actually played all 18 holes. Robert and Jason were happier working their butts off anyways.
RETRO WEDNESDAY!!!!!
Alright, we're mixing it up a little this week by bringing you a great commercial that our very own Rob Fresco shot way back in the day featuring the one and only DICK VAN PATTON!!!! You know, as great of an actor as he is, I just don't buy him as a burgler. The TV he's carrying certainly isn't worth stealing.
This video also features the best cutaway EVER! Don't endanger that cute little girl's future! TRAIN YOUR DOG!
Just so you know, there's 8 seconds of black before the commercial actually starts playing. Some kind of uploading glitch I can't seem to fix. So, I suggest you use that time to reflect on important issues like world peace or 2012 or something like that.
Anyhoo, enough of my yacking. Here's the clip:
