We haven't been slacking here at Gloo, even though we haven't been posting much lately. We went through a bunch of the projects we haven't had time to post in the last month or so, or that we forgot about in our busy-ness and have posted some of them for you. Check them out!
If you haven't heard the news, we picked up a couple of Webby Awards this year for our animated film 'Pixar Intro Parody': Best Animation (as voted by the Academy) and the People's Voice Award for Best Animation (as voted by the world of YouTubers). You can get a glimpse into what it took to create this masterpeice by clicking here, or jump straight to watching it right here.
Ok so we've been slacking here at Gloo, even though we haven't been posting much lately. We went through a bunch of the projects we haven't had time to post in the last month or so, or that we forgot about in our busy-ness and have posted some of them for you. Check them out!
Well, we could tell you how awesome we are until the cows come home (and we hope it’s soon because we’re getting pretty worried), but it’s safe to say that our opinion of us is probably quite biased. So, here’s a compilation of what some of our clients are saying to prove that it’s not just in our heads.
Restaurant 62 is among the finest dining establishments in the Fraser Valley. Their reputation and extensive winelist attracts patrons from all around the Lower Mainland.
When Restaurant 62 wanted to start making a real impact online, they knew straight away that video would have to be a big part of it. Back in early 2009, they tried working with another producer but found the end result incredibly limp and boring. Once they joined forces with the Gloo team, their onscreen charisma came shining through and new life was breathed into their videos. Our relationship with them is young, but is sure to continue for the long run.
Coldwater Vineyards is a relatively new winery near Merritt, BC and is already making some big waves throughout the province. Working alongside esteemed Winemaster, David Avery of Lotusland Vineyards, Coldwater is currently developing a new micro winery in the Fraser Valley.
Coldwater Vineyards needed to change a lot of people’s minds in order to put up a construction site smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood for the next 3 years. Our video was an important tool to explain exactly what was going to be happening and convince City Councillors and the public that the endeavor would greatly benefit the whole community for many years to come.
Here's a video testimonial from Dave Algra, the Marketing Manager for the project.
Thunderbird Show Park is one of North America's premier equestrian facilities, hosting at least 7 major Hunter and Jumper show tournaments every year.
Gloo Studios went to work for Thunderbird in the summer of 2009 to create and package 2 event broadcasts. We captured the tournaments with 5 high definition cameras shooting at 60 frames per second (to allow for super sweet slow motion replays), and set up an intricate system of microphones and shotgun operators to capture every thump of the hoof. Post-production was a whirlwind schedule of 10 days per event to edit, mix, package and deliver the final shows. The result? Occupational Health and Safety Agency for Healthcare (OHSAH) in BC, March – September 2009
OHSAH in BC is a non-profit organization with a mandate to ensure safety within the provincial healthcare industry.
OHSAH found Gloo via a Google search. They called us up to ask for a quote, and we were then quickly snapped up to produce their 10th Anniversary Video. It was an arduous task involving interviews with almost 20 high ranking individuals in the BC healthcare industry and a huge pile of research. In the process, we became experts in their world of workplace safety and delivered an amazing video on-time and on-budget.
Julie Prescott from OHSAH said, “Making a video is a leap of faith… mostly that the professionals, chosen to bring your ideas, messages and organization to life, will deliver. Gloo Studios delivered: on time, on budget and with an enthusiasm and professionalism that was fun and reassuring. We were very pleased with the process and the outcome.”
Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Southern Alberta (KCCFA), 2009 - 2010
KCCFA is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, AB. They help children and their families along the cancer journey through camps, research, grants, scholarships and a whole lot more to ensure that no family or child is left to fight the battle alone.
A few years back when Paul lived in Calgary, he had produced a promo video for KCCFA. The video was a huge hit and has been regarded as one of their absolute best. One year later, KCCFA returned to work with Paul and his team at Gloo Studios despite the geography. Once again, they’ve produced a phenominal video and proven that you don’t need to be in the same postal code to get an amazing job done.
Jodi McNabb of KCCFA said, “We were delighted to work with Paul again our annual video. He is professional, provides excellent direction and is very easy to work with. We are pleased with the video.”
Ralph Stensaker is one of the greatest guys we know. More than just our accountant, he is an extremely knowledgeable consultant and business advisor that we trust with our lives. We are currently working with him to create several videos for the launch of his newest business. Here's what he has to say about us:
"Paul Lowey and the entire team at Gloo Studios never cease to amaze me with the creativity and totally off-the-wall concepts they come up with. These guys go WAY beyond video production and animation (which is exceptional work) - Paul is one of the best 'pitch' men I have ever met. If you have something you want to promote, Gloo Studios can likely come up with a twist to the concept that will add incredible value to the experience."
If you want to see more of Ralph, he occasionally appears on The W Network's "The Cupcake Girls"
Employee Anna Tonrungroj, November 2009 - February 2010
Just as important as making the people we work for happy, we strive to do the same for the people who work for us. Anna Tonrungroj worked as a Compositor in our Visual FX Department for four months before moving on to greener pastures.
"Though I was at Gloo Studios for only a short amount of time, I saw that Paul is one of the most enthusiastic and optimistic people I've ever met. Paul always produced work at the highest level and always understood what was needed for any project that was given to him. He's a professional at whatever task he undertakes and of course, one of the kindest bosses I have ever worked for. In a world full of wannabe"great producers", I can proudly say that Paul is the real deal."
Well you've heard what our clients have to say about us.
